The Story

Made for the hands
that hold them.

Yise Pottery is a studio practice rooted in the Bay Area, where each piece is shaped by hand from raw clay — built slowly, fired deliberately, and finished to last.

I work primarily in stoneware and porcelain, drawn to glazes that shift in fire: ash, iron oxide, soda. No two pieces are identical. That's the point.

Every item in the shop is made to be used — plates that earn patina, cups that fit the morning, vessels that settle into a room as if they were always there.

The Process

From earth
to table.

Every piece passes through the same four stages — shaped by hand, dried slowly, bisque fired, then glazed and finished in a high-temperature kiln. The fire does the rest.

01

Throw & Build

Wheel-thrown or hand-built from stoneware or porcelain, shaped while the clay remembers the hands.

02

Trim & Dry

Each piece is trimmed at leather-hard stage, then dried slowly to prevent cracking.

03

Bisque Fire

First firing at cone 06 strengthens the clay body and prepares the surface for glaze.

04

Glaze & Fire

Glazed by hand and fired to cone 10 in a gas reduction, soda, or wood kiln.

"Clay is the most honest material. It records everything — the hesitation, the pressure, the intention."
